DO I NEED A PERMIT?

No. Built To Move Cabins are under the required 30sqm, are transportable and have no water connections, meaning they do not require a permit. They are subject to the usual height-to-boundary rules, so you should check you are familiar with these and have enough space to ensure compliance. Consents are subject to local council regulations and we recommend you seek guidance and clarification from your local council before committing to a Built To Move cabin. 

WHAT ARE THE HEIGHT TO BOUNDARY RULES?

Our Built to Move cabins are subject to the usual height-to-boundaryrules, and as the renter you're responsible for compliance of these. Ensure you are familiar with these and have enough space to ensure compliance. Consents are subject to local council regulations and we recommend you seek guidance and clarification from your local council before committing to a Built To Move cabin. 

HOW MUCH IS RENT?

Our cabins are rented at $90 per week with a minimum 6 month rental period. A bond of 4 weeks rent ($360) is also payable before the cabin is delivered plus a delivery fee. 

DO YOU ORGANISE MOVING?

Built to Move will organise the transport of the cabin through our preferred supplier. To move one of our transportable cabins within a 30km radius of our Te Awamutu yard will cost $300 inc GST to deliver to a flat, easy-access site. This fee will cover both the transport too and from the property. Price varies outside this region, so please get in touch and we can give you an idea of cost. 

WHAT IS AN ACCESSIBLE SITE?

To be able to move one of the cabins onto the property, the area must be flat and easily accessed from the road. We do have Hiab options available to deliver to trickier to get to locations, however cost to deliver will increase. 

WHAT DO I DO IF THE SITE HASN'T GOT ACCESS?

If the site hasn't got easy access, we do have Hiab options available. There is an additional cost for this option, which we will discuss with you after our site visit.

DO I NEED TO INFORM MY LANDLORD?

Yes, if you are in a rental property you will need to get approval from your landlord/ the property owner to move a cabin on.  Built To Move takes no responsibility if the property owner is not informed and you are asked to remove the cabin within your agreement period.  If you are required to move the cabin off earlier, you will still be required to cover the minimum 6 month commitment. 

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING COMPLIANCE?

It is up to you (The Renter) to ensure that the location you have chosen for your cabin complies with NZ regulation, ie. it is no less than 3m from any boundaries or other dwelling on the property. 

WHAT ARE YOUR STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS?

All cabins are fully insulated, fitted with double glazed windows and ranch slider, have blinds, curtains and carpet installed. Each of the cabins are also fitted with a panel heater and 3 double power outlets. For more information and the full specs, click HERE
All our cabins are built to standard spec and cannot be customised. 

WHAT GUARANTEES DO YOU GIVE?

All our cabins are built to NZ Building Code and are compliant with the NZ Healthy Homes Standards. All workmanship is completed by a Licensed Building Practitioner and Qualified Roofer. We guarantee our cabins will be warm, dry and water tight and will remedy any structural defects at our cost. 

IS THERE A MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD?

Yes, the minimum weekly rental period is 6 months and you must give 3 weeks notice to terminate the rental. Short term rentals may available depending on stock on hand. Please contact us for more information on our short term rates. 

ARE YOUR CABINS AVAILABLE FOR SHORT TERM LEASE?

We currently are looking for long-term renters of our cabins (6 months plus). However, if you're interested in a short term rental and we have stock available, we may consider a short-term agreement. Please contact us to enquire.  

HOW DO WE CONNECT TO POWER?

Built To Move cabins are built with an outdoor power socket to connect power to the cabin from a nearby dwelling. A 20m lead will be supplied with your cabin. 


ARE YOUR CABINS AVAILABLE FOR SALE?

No, for the time being our cabins are rental only. 

ARE THE CABINS INSULATED?

Yes, all of our cabins are fully insulated to keep you toasty warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

DO THE CABINS HAVE HEATING?

Each cabin contains a built in panel heater on the wall. They are also insulated and double-glazed so are easy and cost-effective to heat and keep warm. 

WHAT CAN YOU FIT IN A CABIN?

You can comfortably fit a queen sixed bed plus a couple of pieces of furniture like a bedside table and draws. Check out our gallery for more ideas on how our cabins can be used.

HOW DO I TERMINATE MY RENTAL?

The minimum weekly rental period is 6 months and to terminate your rental agreement, we require you to give 3 weeks notice in writing. View our rental agreement for full terms and conditions.
